The Vacation without Snapchat
A few years ago, I went to my second Idina Menzel concert. If you know anything about this woman, she is a performer through and through. She literally stopped mid-song to tell everyone to be present and put their phones down. She did not like singing to the back of a bunch of iPhones. She wanted to see her audience.
This past week, I visited some of the most touristy and most beautiful places. Between the Rocky Mountains and the Grand Canyon, to the Bellagio fountain show and the Venetian resort, my eyes saw some amazing things.
What rocked my world was the fact that my first reaction was to pull out my phone and post to Snapchat. I wanted to tag my location, use a bunch of filters and make all of my followers jealous.
Luckily, I deleted my account and the app, and was able to fully enjoy the views. I was not behind a lens. I was living in the moment.
And honestly, how often do we really look back at these pictures? To be honest, I know that there are much better quality pictures and videos online than any I could have possibly taken.
Instead, I have my memories. And quite frankly, I am learning that is enough for me. :)
